OTT(Operation Theatre Technology)
The field of OTT encompasses a range of responsibilities, including equipment management, sterilization techniques, patient positioning, surgical instrument preparation, and maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room. OT Technologists are responsible for setting up and arranging surgical equipment, ensuring the availability and functionality of medical devices, and preparing the operating room before each procedure.
In an OTT program, students typically learn about the different types of surgeries, surgical instruments and equipment, infection control practices, anesthesia techniques, surgical procedures, and emergency protocols. They also acquire knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology, which are crucial for their role in the operating room.
Practical training is a significant component of an OTT program. Students may have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operating rooms, where they learn to assist the surgical team, handle instruments, prepare and maintain a sterile field, and manage surgical equipment. They may also learn to operate specialized equipment such as anesthesia machines, surgical lights, and monitoring devices.
